Recorded mostly in there underwear and amidst incredible amounts teen angst. This was to become Protest The Hero’s breakthrough album. Like most new, young, and popular bands… it was hated by anyone above the age of 21. That’s when we got the idea of what was to come.

This record was recorded in a basement studio in Oakville ON. The lyrical effort of this album received critical acclaim and thus Bombs Over Providence put their flag in the ground.

This record could one day be listened to by beer drinking anarchist angels in heaven. One of the original ep’s for Underground Operations, this band was formed by members of Blank Stare, Marylins Vitamins, and Ew You’re a Girl and Girl’s Suck- posed from the beginning to become the staple in the Toronto punk history books, we think it might just be so.

Closet Monster - We Rebuilt This City

Recorded in the same basement twice. Released twice. And toured on relentlessly. This record was the beginning of the end for Closet Monster in many ways. There were moments of chaos and moments of perfection scattered throughout this albums story. Most of which will die with the members.

art vans dont run

Thanks to CIUTs radio show ‘mods and rockers’ these songs were a staple in late 90s canadian punk rock. If you ever saw this band or listened any of their records that came out on the now defunct Toronto punk label Raw Energy then you understand why this anthology was so special for us to release.

Closet Monster Killed The Radio Star

Two months were spent in a basement making chewbacca sounds to hide underneath a couple songs and about 127 pizza’s were ordered from free topping pizza. Completely recorded on analog gear and in 14 hour stints at a time… this record may not sound like it, but it’s a masterpiece for its time and place within those involved’s hearts.

art notes underground

The first CD released by Underground Operations was a collective effort. Two tracks by each of the bands- some of which were only ever released on this album. Colin Lichti, the singer of Marlins Vitamins, inked and scanned all of the components of this record’s art piece by piece. The soundclips on here are pretty rad, and the Bombs Over Providence tracks still had Eric from Moneen on them… which make them treasures in themselves.

Protest the Hero-ep

In the early 2002 a bunch of 14 year old kids under the band name “happy go lucky” came into Insight Recording Studios to record five tracks with Mark Spicoluk.  The songs they recorded would later become Underground Operations’ first record, pressed on a limited 7inch only vinyl run, art drawn by one of the band member’s friends in art class, and released under their new band name, PTH, which was chosen from a list Spicoluk provided as their name change was his only criteria to signing the band.
